OUR STORIES

Darren,44

Graduate

I have found volunteering useful as it has given me experience in the area I wish to work in and I have learned new skills.

I would recommend volunteering as it gives a person confidence and helps them meet new people and establish new friendships as well as gain experience in their chosen field of work.  Also it gives them hope of a job and not just confine them to he benefits system.

Darren is currently studying for a Level 2 Certificate in Understanding Retail Operations.

I am finding volunteering very interesting, meeting new people, learning more about myself and ways to develop.

The staff are very friendly and easily approachable and there is access to learn about Health and Social Care.

Volunteering has given me the insight and work experience that is needed in this sort of work.  I have learnt many new skills and how to deal with people.

I have been able to attain a Level 1 Certicate in Health and Social Care and a Level 2 Certificate in Information, Advice and Guidance.

I would recommend that anyone who hasn't worked in this area to volunteer to gain experience.

I am currently studying a degree in Social Care and Health Studies and this volunteer placement will help me gain valuable experience within the sector.  I enjoy spending time with the clients and feel a sense of achievement when they give positive feedback.

I would recommend volunteering to others as it provides valuable experience, it is enjoyable, creates further opportunities and the service users benefit too.

[Monique has gained Level 2 in Principles of End of Life Care and is currently studying for Level 2 Principles in Dementia Care.}
